How Can You Recover Corrupt Access File?

MS Access database comprises of a number of tables with numerous rows and columns to contain varied data. These tables are many times stored on the server so all the users can view updated information saved in the table. The table can be updated or manipulated by authorized users who are connected to the server. Though the updation is easy, the tables might get corrupt when two or more users are connected to the network to perform modification simultaneously on the same table. Most of the times, this leads to inaccessibility of the data saved on the table once it gets corrupt. If the user requires to access the records, then he needs to restore the table from an updated backup. However, in absence of a proper backup, one has to use Access recovery software to recover the data.

Picture this scenario:

You have created a table 'Employee' that stores records related to employee name, address, phone number, and salary. This table has vital information about the employees of your company. As the table is saved on the network, it is allowed by the authorized users to modify it as and when required. On a particular day, away from your knowledge, two users in the organization updated the records in the table, simultaneously. This resulted in the corruption of the access files. This is a very rare, but possible case of Access database corruption. Various other reasons associated with such an issue can be any error in network connection etc.

Resolution:

In order to repair the corrupt 'Employee' table, you should use an inbuilt repair utility named 'Compact and Repair'. This can be performed in the following ways:

Choose 'Compact and Repair Database' under 'Tools'
Next, click 'Database to Compact From'
Choose 'Compact' option
Now, click 'Save' option to save/store the repaired file

Even after performing the above procedures, it may not help you at times. Another option to get the database to working condition is to replace/update the same with the latest backup. However, in the absence of a valid or updated backup, you need to use a third-party access recovery software. Such an Access repair tool uses extensive repair algorithm to repair any corrupt or damaged MS Access database object.

Access Recovery software is one such data recovery tool that repairs various database objects including tables, forms, reports, macros, and modules. It recovers VBA (Visual Basic for Access) code for MS Access reports.
